Young athletes honored by Hall of Fame

The Lakewood Youth Hall of Fame event held Feb. 23, 2026 at The Centre honored Athlete of the Year Anthony Eyanson, along with the 2025 Hall of Fame inductee class of more than 60 performers of the year, special achievement honorees and championship teams.

A Lakewood High School alumnus and lifelong Lakewood resident, Anthony Eyanson rose to national prominence as a standout right-handed pitcher for Louisiana State University (LSU), playing a pivotal role in leading the Tigers to the College World Series National Championship.

Playing a major role in the Tigers’ championship season, Eyanson established himself as one of the premier pitchers in college baseball. He posted a 12–2 record with a 3.00 ERA over 108 innings pitched, striking out an impressive 152 batters. His dominance and consistency on the mound made him one of the most feared arms in the nation and a trusted leader in LSU’s pitching rotation.

Eyanson’s impact was especially evident on the sport’s biggest stage. In the College World Series Finals, Eyanson went 5-0 with 2 saves and delivered a clutch performance in the championship game, throwing 6.1 strong innings to help secure the victory and propel LSU toward a national title. His poise under pressure and ability to rise in big moments defined his season and solidified his reputation as a championship-caliber competitor.

In recognition of his outstanding year, Anthony earned First Team All-American (Baseball America), NCAA Baton Rouge Regional All-Tournament Team, Second Team All SEC and LSU Newcomer of the Year, placing him among the elite players in college baseball. His success continued into the professional ranks when he was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the third round of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft, marking the next step in a journey that now carries Lakewood’s name onto the professional stage.

Anthony’s work ethic, competitive drive, and hometown pride make him a role model for young athletes throughout the community. As he advances to the highest levels of baseball, he continues to represent Lakewood with excellence, determination, and class.
