Water conservation rebates

Water-wise landscaping, irrigation upgrades and water-efficient fixtures can help reduce water use and lower utility bills over time.

Use the information below to learn about City of Lakewood and regional rebate programs.

Rebate amounts, eligibility requirements and funding availability may change. Review current program details before starting a project or making a purchase.

City of Lakewood turf removal and irrigation rebates

The City of Lakewood offers rebate programs for eligible residential turf removal and subsurface irrigation projects for City of Lakewood water customers, while funding is available.

Golden State Water customers should contact Golden State Water Company at 1-800-999-4033 to ask about available rebates.

Projects must be pre-approved before work begins. Applicants must have a City of Lakewood water account in good standing to be approved. This rebate has no cash value; once the project is approved and completed, the rebate will be credited to your water account.

  • Weed barrier with mulch
  • Decorative rock and permeable pavers

Subsurface irrigation rebate project guidelines

Lakewood Department of Water Resources (DWR) offers rebates to customers that replace above ground spray irrigation with subsurface irrigation.

Subsurface irrigation, not to be confused with surface drip irrigation, is designed to:

  • Be about 6 inches underground
  • Slowly apply small volumes of water at or near the root zone of plants
  • Be more efficient than above ground spray irrigation systems
  • Irrigate under turf grass or shrub and groundcover areas
