Help Project Shepherd

People sorting canned goods for Project Shepherd

Project Shepherd relies on community support throughout the year to provide food, essential items and holiday assistance to Lakewood families in need.

Everything donated to Project Shepherd goes to those who need it most.

There are many ways to help, from donating items to volunteering your time.

How you can help

Donate year-round

Donations of food and personal care items are accepted throughout the year at Burns Community Center, Lakewood City Hall and city park facilities.

Common items include:

  • Non-perishable food (cereal, pasta, rice, sugar, flour, peanut butter and jelly, canned goods)
  • Household essentials (toilet paper, laundry detergent)
  • Personal care items (toothpaste, shampoo, soap, diapers)

You can also make a tax-deductable donation online or by mail at any time.

  • Back-to-school program - Donate new backpacks and school supplies
  • Holiday program - Provide food and gifts for families in December
  • Teddy Bear Tree - Fulfill a child's holiday wish (mid-November through early December)

Where to drop off donations (December program)

During the holiday giving program, donations of food and gifts may be dropped off at Burns Community Center and Lakewood City Hall.

Volunteer

Project Shepherd welcomes adult and teen volunteers, particularly for the annual holiday project.

Volunteers are especially needed during the annual December program to help organize donations, pack items and assist families.
