Project Shepherd volunteers

Lakewood residents facing unemployment, underemployment or other challenges can find support here.

  • Project Shepherd assists with food and utility payment assistance year round.
  • Project Shepherd's seasonal programs provide free backpacks and school supplies in August, and toys for children plus all the meal fixings for families during the holiday season.
  • Fair Housing helps provide answers to questions about fair housing laws and landlord/tenant issues.
  • Section 8 assistance is administered by the Los Angeles County Development Authority.
  • The Community Assistance Directory provides a listing of resources in Lakewood.
