Disconnection of water service

City of Lakewood policy on disconnection of residential water service

This policy applies to residential water service accounts and is intended to comply with Senate Bill 998, the Water Shutoff Protection Act (California Health and Safety Code §116900 et seq.).

If this policy conflicts with any other City rules, regulations or policies, this policy will control.

The total number of residential water service disconnections for nonpayment in calendar year 2025 was 256.
