Lakewood City Council

Regular City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, unless otherwise noticed on the agenda. Regular meetings are not held on legal holidays or on the fourth Tuesdays in November and December. Special meetings may be scheduled as needed.

Agenda materials, including available staff reports and related attachments, are on file in the City Clerk’s Office and are available for public inspection during normal business hours. Links to staff reports and related attachments are provided at the end of each Agenda title.

Materials that are not available at the time the agenda is posted may be made available later or may be requested from the City Clerk’s Office.

City Council meeting dates

Pursuant to Government Code § 54953.8, meetings will be held within the jurisdiction of Lakewood, CA 90712 and may be held at the following locations.

Public Participation

The “Public Comments” portion of the agenda is the time set aside for members of the public to address the City Council on items listed on the agenda.

The “Oral Communications” portion of the agenda is reserved for comments on matters not listed on the agenda.

Anyone wishing to speak before the City Council, whether attending in person or remotely, must first be recognized by the Mayor. Speakers may state their name for the record. Individuals attending in person should approach the podium, and remote participants may request to speak by following the procedures outlined in the agenda.

In addition to providing comments in person or by remote participation, members of the public may also submit written comments in advance of the scheduled meeting by email at cityclerk@lakewoodca.gov or by delivering them in person to the City Clerk’s Office at Lakewood City Hall, 5050 Clark Avenue, Lakewood, CA 90712.

Participation via Teleconference

Members of the public may participate in City Council meetings by teleconference using the Zoom phone number provided on the first page of the agenda.

When meetings include remote public access, the meetings may be recorded, including public comments. Telephone numbers displayed during participation may appear as part of the recording. Participant audio may remain muted unless the individual is recognized to provide public comment. Remote participants may state their name for the record before speaking.

To request an opportunity to provide public comment, dial “*9.” After doing so, you will be added to the rotation to provide public comment. To unmute, dial “*6.” To remove yourself from the speaker rotation, dial “*9” again. Those participating remotely will receive the same amount of time for public comment as those attending in person.  

If telephone or internet service is interrupted and prevents the public from accessing the meeting through the authorized two-way telephonic platform, the City Council will recess the open session for at least one hour while making a good faith effort to restore service. During this recess, the City Council may convene in closed session as authorized by law. Open session will not resume until at least one hour has elapsed or service has been restored, whichever occurs first. If service has not been restored when open session reconvenes, the City Council may proceed only after adopting, by roll call vote, findings that good faith efforts were made to restore service and that the public interest in continuing the meeting outweighs the public interest in maintaining remote access.

Language Services

Pursuant to SB 707, City Council meeting agendas are available in Spanish. The translated version is generated using a digital translation service. The City is not responsible for the accuracy of any translated content.

Members of the public who would like to request or receive language interpretation during a meeting should contact the City Clerk’s Office at least 48 hours before the meeting. The City will make reasonable efforts to accommodate language interpretation requests, such as arranging space for interpreters, allowing additional time for interpretation, or permitting the use of personal interpretation equipment.

The City is not required to provide interpretation services during meetings.
