The Lakewood Municipal Code includes the current ordinances adopted by the Lakewood City Council, along with any updates made over time.
Some County of Los Angeles regulations, such as health, fire and building codes, have been adopted by the city and are included in the municipal code. You can find Los Angeles County codes on Municode.
Lakewood residents and business operators are also subject to state and federal laws.
How do I find a particular code section?
You can search the Municipal Code by keyword or phrase, but your results will depend on the terms you use.
For example, if you are looking for information about trash collection, you may also find relevant sections under terms like rubbish, garbage, refuse or solid waste. Information on one topic may appear in more than one section.
For the best results, try using keywords from the section you're reading to find other related sections.
I'm not sure if I understand the code.
The Municipal Code has been updated many times since 1954 and is written in legal language. Because of this, some sections can be difficult to read.
Take your time and read through each section carefully, and look at related sections if something isn’t clear.
