Water main replacement project begins

The City of Lakewood’s water main replacement project is moving into its construction phase, following preliminary work to identify the locations of existing underground utilities in areas where improvements are planned.

The first waterline construction work will begin the week of July 13 on Clubhouse Drive between East Carson Street and north of Cartagena Street. Work will continue in phases, with the final improvements on Del Amo Boulevard between Paramount Boulevard and Silva Street scheduled for completion in spring 2027.

What to expect during construction

  • Residents on affected streets will receive notice from the contractor 48 hours before work starts in their area.
  • During pipeline installation, there may be short periods when driveway access or curbside parking is temporarily unavailable. Urgent access needs can be accommodated. 
  • Crews will work Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through spring 2027.
  • There may be some delays when driving through the construction area.  
  • Trash pickup will continue as usual.
  • Regular street sweeping will pause during construction. Temporary “No Parking” signs will show where restrictions apply, and the contractor will sweep the area once work is complete.
  • Please avoid running water onto the street while crews are working.
  • Please follow all posted “No Parking” signs to help the work move smoothly.

  • Clubhouse Drive (between Carson Street and north of Cartagena Street)
  • Canehill Avenue (between South Street and 930 feet north of South Street)
  • Hayter Avenue (between Del Amo Boulevard and Candlewood Street)
  • Levelside Avenue (between Del Amo Boulevard and Deerford Street)
  • Allred Street (between Downey Avenue and Coke Avenue)
  • Deerford Street (between Downey Avenue and Coke Avenue)
  • Castana Avenue (between Del Amo Boulevard and Arbor Road)
  • Oliva Avenue (between Del Amo Boulevard and Arbor Road)
  • Pimenta Avenue (between Del Amo Boulevard and Arbor Road)
  • Downey Avenue (between Del Amo Boulevard and Deerford Street)
  • Del Amo Boulevard (between Paramount Boulevard and Silva Street)
