National Preparedness Month (NPM) is a nationwide initiative recognized each September to promote family and community disaster planning throughout the year and participate in preparedness activities at home, work, and in the community.
National Preparedness Month offers activities and information to help everyone prepare for a disaster and emergency situation, whether at home or at work.
Disasters and emergencies come in all types and sizes, and are unpredictable. With so many unknowns of what will happen and when, it can feel overwhelming to prepare your home and family for an emergency or disaster. There is no wrong way to prepare...having some supplies on hand is better than having none! It’s okay to start slow and add to your home’s preparedness kits little by little.
The City of Lakewood encourages everyone to prepare year-round. You can visit our emergency preparedness page anytime for tips and information on emergency preparedness.
Please be sure to check back with us September to participate in National Preparedness Month activities and special events.
