Lakewood is completing major upgrades at City facilities to strengthen aging infrastructure and ensure residents continue to enjoy safe, comfortable and reliable public spaces.

A coordinated improvement project is underway at City Hall, The Centre, several park buildings and other City facilities. Many of these systems were beyond their expected lifespan and increasingly costly to maintain. Completing the work together helps minimize disruption while improving long-term performance and efficiency.

What’s being improved?

  • New roofs: Roof replacements are underway at Bloomfield Park, Biscailuz Park, San Martin Park, City Hall, The Centre and the Arbor Water Maintenance Yard. The new materials are weather-resistant and designed to better reflect sunlight, helping reduce heat buildup and energy use.
  • HVAC system upgrades: Heating and air-conditioning systems or controls are being replaced at Bloomfield Park, Monte Verde Lodge, Biscailuz Park, San Martin Park, Burns Community Center, City Hall and The Centre. These upgrades improve comfort while reducing repair and energy costs.
  • Electrical system improvements: Electrical equipment is being upgraded at Bloomfield Park, Biscailuz Park, San Martin Park, Burns Community Center and Nye Library to enhance reliability and reduce long-term maintenance expenses.
  • LED lighting replacements: Lighting is being upgraded to energy-efficient LED technology at Bloomfield Park, Biscailuz Park, San Martin Park, Monte Verde Lodge, Burns Community Center, Nye Library, the Arbor Water Maintenance Yard, City Hall and The Centre. The new lighting improves quality while lowering electricity use.

Together, these improvements reflect Lakewood’s commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities and using resources responsibly. By modernizing infrastructure now, the City is helping ensure programs and services continue smoothly for years to come.
