Recycling tips

Lakewood’s curbside recycling service allows accepted recyclables to be mixed together in one blue cart. Materials are sorted after pickup at a materials recovery facility.

How to recycle correctly

• Place recyclables loose in the blue cart. Do not bag recyclables.
• Use the blue cart for accepted recyclables, including glass jars and bottles, cardboard, paper bags, newspapers and inserts, aluminum and steel cans, plastic containers and mixed paper, including magazines.
• Check plastic containers for the recycling symbol and a number from 1 to 7. These are generally accepted.
• Do not place PVC pipe, vinyl siding, plastic film, grocery bags or stretch film in the blue cart.
• Keep food, liquid and trash out of the blue cart to help prevent contamination.
