The Building and Safety Division of the Community Development Department issues building permits for both new and remodeled home and commercial construction.

Permit fee schedules

Effective July 1, 2025, Building and Safety fees increased 3.0%.

This increase is based on the Consumer price index rise between March 2024 and March 2025 as published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, CA area.

Residential Projects

  • Monday - Thursday
    7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday (alternating)
    7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Debris Recovery Plan

In order to ensure that all projects in the City are compliant, residents, contractors and homeowners planning a construction or demolition project will need to submit a Debris Recovery Plan for approval before receiving a permit.
