Temporary dumpster bins and EDCO transfer station

The city's trash contractor EDCO is the only company in Lakewood that has a Los Angeles County encroachment permit that allows a dumpster to be placed in the street.

If you plan a major remodeling, clean up, or landscaping job, you may need a dumpster trash container or roll-off bin.

Lakewood’s trash contractor, EDCO, operates a customer-friendly dump transfer station and recycling facility just a few miles away in Signal Hill.

The enclosed state-of-the-art facility processes and transports refuse generated from Lakewood and surrounding communities.

The facility accepts these items:

• Large and oversized amounts of brick, used lumber and other material that can’t be put in residential trash or green waste cans or be left for a bulky item pickup.
• Large amounts of green waste. If the plant and tree material is not contaminated with other materials, it can be recycled and turned into mulch. A dumping fee may apply.
• Household hazardous waste, electronic waste and sharps on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The 68,000-square-foot complex is also a California CRV redemption value buy-back facility for aluminum cans, CRV glass beverage containers and CRV plastic beverage containers. Donation-value items are also accepted which include paper, cardboard and non-CRV household containers.
