One minute a month to help make Lakewood even better
Published on April 20, 2025
The City of Lakewood invites residents to sign up to receive periodic short opinion polls by email or text and share their opinions about various city services and topics. Residents can be candid, as their individual answers and identity are kept confidential.
An independent company, FlashVote, will send participants a survey every few months. Each survey will include just five questions to fulfill their promise to “take just one minute to help make your city better.”
What to expect
- Once signed up, you will receive an email or text link to a new survey sent by FlashVote.
- You can take the five-question survey, or skip it.
- If you take the survey, a summary of the anonymous results will be sent automatically so you can see how your responses compare to the community at large. As an example, see the March 2025 survey results.
- All surveys are strictly voluntary and confidential. If you want to take part, you can. If you don’t, you don’t have to.

Why FlashVote?
Lakewood selected FlashVote after comparing a variety of survey methods and companies. FlashVote is being used by a growing number of California cities the size of Lakewood, with many cities highly recommending FlashVote.
FlashVote will not share your personal information with anyone.
“FlashVote is a great way for our City Council Members and city staff to stay even more up to date on what our residents are thinking about the wide variety of issues and topics we deal with in city government,” said City Manager Thaddeus McCormack.
“Lakewood is a great place to live, and having these FlashVote surveys every month or so will help us stay a great community and solve any challenges when they come up. Thanks in advance to everyone who signs up for the surveys.”
