Los Angeles County mental health services

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health offers help for residents who need mental health support, crisis services or referrals to care.

Call the 24/7 Los Angeles County Help Line at 800-854-7771.

Through the county’s Help Line, residents can be connected to:

  • Mental health screening, support and referrals
  • Crisis assessment and field response teams
  • Substance use disorder services
  • Veteran and military family support
  • Local mental health providers and programs
  • Mental health resources for people experiencing homelessness

State mental health resources

California’s Mental Health for All website is a state-run portal that connects residents to behavioral health support. 

Services cover three main areas:

  • Emergency Care: Get immediate crisis support through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and crisis text services.
  • Healthcare Navigation: Guidance on using Covered California to find doctors or contacting the Department of Managed Health Care for insurance disputes. 
  • Targeted Wellness: Find free digital tools and support lines, tailored to specific groups, including CalHOPE (youth), BrightLife Kids (children) and the Friendship Line (older adults).
